JUST A MEAN GREEN MUTHA F... by real-faker JUST A MEAN GREEN MUTHA F... by real-faker
...ROM OUTER SPAYCE, AND I'M BAAAAD!

Sorry guys. Here we go again. ^^; I hope my back-to-back fanartz of things aren't annoying, but when I do one fanart for something there's usually some other idea still stuck in the back of my head that didn't make it's way into the first one. If that makes sense.

I wanted to do another Little Shop fanart, but more stylized and cartoony. Because Audrey II just seemed like a cool thing to make look like that.

... and aparently I'm not the only one who thinks this because they also made a cartoon series of this? I don't remember ever watching it, but MAN I'd buy that on DVD SO HARD if I ever found it. >: D What a great thing for a kids show to be based off of.

Anyway, I'm off track. As usual.

There's really not too much to say for this, except that I did it with markerses and pens! And some white out 'cause I can't color inside the lines to save my life. XD

And I lightened it up and did some bland, stupid, splattery background shit in photoshop because you could see the crinkles in the paper from the photographinging of it.

Oh, and this isn't supposed to be any particular scene from it, in case you were wondering. ^^;

Like I said in a previous deviation.. (a previation, if you will), I'm endlessly impressed with this movie, and YOU SHOULD BE TOO, SO ENLIGHTEN YO'SELF WITH THIS WHOLESOME VIDEO:

You're welcome.
And how could I not start singing the song? It's my favorite from the entire album (for the movie, at least. as I recall it's not in the play. Haven't seen that yet though, so you know...)

Haha, you're right, it's only in the movie. XD But it's still a fantastic song.
Also, if you do ever get a chance to see the play some time, you should go for it! I've seen it once already and I think I'm gonna' see it again pretty soon. The only problem with the play is that sometimes the plant will look significantly lamer if the production isn't all that great. But sometimes it's really impressive: [link]
Like that. xD Haha. Anyway, yeah, it's worth a viewin' if you can get ahold of some tickets that aren't too bad.

Nice puppet...
I'm a huge fan of the movie, but I totally want to see the play.
On another note, I'm writing my own LSoH musical, but most of the songs are parodies of rock songs from the 80's or earlier...

Oh really? Like, is it the original story just reinterpreted? Or repurposed with 80's rock? Or is it an entirely new or alternate story?
I mean, either way that's incredibly awesome. Do you write/play music as well?

Well, since the original movie and the story itself are public domain, it's mostly just a remake... only with parodies of 80's or earlier rock music! We still have all the characters from the play and original musical movie, plus a few from the original original movie (like the plant eating guy! He finds out about Audrey 2 and leaves it in his will "When I kick it, feed me to the plant- makes up for all the innocent begonias I've eaten...").
As for music, I do n't really have much skill with it- I can play a couple of songs on the piano fairly well, and parts of Annie's song, but other than that I have no musical skill. Then again, neither do most of the famous musicians today, so that's no problem!
I'm a special effects nut, so I mostly decided to do this as a challenge to myself...

Ahhhh, you're right! I hadn't thought of that... the original is totally public domain. xD
Oooh! And the plant-eating guy! He was my favorite part of the original movie, actually.... glad you worked him in! Hahaha.
Lol, that's true. Most famous musicians have minimal knowledge of music theory, like you said. And especially if the score is parodies of 80's rock songs, then it can't be THAT hard to write, right? xD You could probably fake it easy enough. Just learn 3 power chords and find someone who has a keytar and you're set!
Special effects as in... for live theatre, right? Little Shop could be like, prime real-estate for special effects...You could make it so bad-ass!

So that sucks balls, definitely.

Yeah, the end is DRASTICALLY different, isn't it? XD
I know they filmed the original ending, but they changed it (apparently) because it didn't get a good response from some sort of "testing" or "preview" audience. Which means that they would've had an audience full of people who had never seen the actual play, I suppose. XD I dunno.

I at least respect the fact that after the "everything's okay" ending, they threw in that little "...or is it?" by putting a baby audrey plant in the garden outside. Doesn't QUITE redeem what they did, but it's somethin' at least, I guess. XD

Well, I'm one of those freaks that doesn't particularly care for happy endings, so the original suited me juuust fine. xD

But I guess if you're talking about the vast majority, yeah, they would like that better.

True that, true that! Actually, so is Seymour. I've never seen it (I had a chance to, but was stupid and didn't), but I've listened to the original soundtrack AND also, for the movie, they filmed the original ending (of the actual play)... it's on youtube and all, so I watched it. Basically the plant is mass-marketed and they all grow really big and take over the world.

I imagine it was a fairly large waste of money to film that entire thing and then just scrap it. XD

But I think either ending works. It makes a point either way.

Well the ending I've seen is where a
little plant starts to grow in their garden.
I guess they scrapped it but hinted that it wasn't over.

Which isn't the original ending, but I rather like it. 'Cause it gives you that "everything is well and back to normal... OR IS IT?" thing.

Lol! That's awesome! I'm always wary of breaking out into song at work, 'cause I know if I do, it'll probably be some kind of showtunes or another, which will sound ridiculous out of context. XD

Why, yes! Actually, I have! Of course, I saw the movie when I was reeeeeeally little, so I didn't know how it was SUPPOSED to end.... but I have since seen the original ending. I understand that the new ending sort of pissed people off, but I like it just fine. 'Cause it's not entirely a perfect happy ending... but I can see where the original ending gives the story more of a moral.

BUT IT'S SO DRAWN-OUT. D : Then again, the ending of the original movie from the 50's is really drawn-out and tiring, so maybetha'ts what they were going for?

Anyway, thanks.

I have Showtunes on my Xbox and when no ones looking change the music set for games to it, before playing. Just to screw them up.

Hahaha... well, I don't burst into them, but it's always on my mind. And I often have to refrain from doing it. XD If I were with friends, that's a different story. A single phrase would have us busting into RENT at the drop of a hat. Actually at the drop of someone's stash, more like it! If someone were to say "you look familiar" to one of us, we'd all just go, "LIKE YOUR DEAD GIRLFRIEND" and they'd be like ... what?

Ahhh... but anyway. That's awesome, changing the music for the games. XD

=3 My friends tend to break into Rocky Horrror Show bits, and a few like that. I'm known for going into I feel Pretty a bit too much. I was in a car wreck 2 years ago, during the entire thing Sweet Transvestite was being played on an Ipod. XD So I almost died to Show tunes. XD
