Anyway, awhile back, I made a journal entry, spazzing about when I saw POTO (or POT, in the words of XD) and how I thought I'd draw some sort of fanart to get it out of my system. Well, it's about a month and some odd days later, and it's out of my system already, but I still like it and wanted to do a fanart for it. So, I was at work yesterday, working in the auxilary concession stand, all alone, for 7 hours (well, they eventually sent someone back to work with me... but not 'till 6ish. My shift was 2-9.) and the plus to that is that most people don't know that aux. is opened, so they flood the mainstand, and I'm back there just waiting for something to happen, and watching people walk by with their popcorn saying "Pfhht, well if I knew you were opened back here I wouldn't have wasted my time up front..."
Well, you know, there's a sign where you look to see which side of the theater your movie is on that says "Auxilary snack bar now open", and if you fail to see that, I'm sorry. And I don't blame you, it's hard to notice.
ANYWAY, you get alot of downtime back there, so I was like, "aha, belated POTO art. Thaz what I'll do." and that's what I did.
Anyway, this particular scene is of the moment towards the end (I was already babbling about this in the aforementioned journal entry) where Christine (sp?) kisses the Phantom and he's all OMIGOD WTF-looking and I thought it was cute. You know, the whole "Oh, come on Phanty, you're not THAT ugly. Watch, I'll kiss you to prove it." moment. And then she frolics off with Horacio. Or... wait, Raul. Whatever, it's something Spanish-sounding. YES I KNOW IT'S FRENCH SHUT UP.
I thought about drawing a little Raul in the background going like "?!" but I decided that'd take away from whatever's going on with the picture already. XD
Anyway, this was drawn with a ballpoint pen on receipt paper, which has a strange sort of look to it actually. There's some sort of chemical or something on the paper I think... I don't know, maybe someone knows and they can explain it to me, but if you draw on receipt paper with a ballpoint pen it gets this sort of... bleeding look to it. I mean, it doesn't bleed onto parts of the paper you don't want it to or anything, it just sort of smooths out the lines you've made... I don't know. You might be able to see some of that happening if you look at this up close.
There's plenty of things I don't really like about this, but I'm not going to point them out. You can probably see some parts where I messed up too. But I wont point them out, because I draw crap on receipts ALL THE TIME at work but I've never done anything that I was proud enough of to put on DA in anything other than Scraps. So, yes, I am a little proud of this and thusly don't want to point out all the messed up crap on it. ^_^ But feel free to critique anyway, of course, by all means.
And it looks a little gothy, if you ask me, which I don't think is typically my style, but oh well. You can only do so much with pen and receipt paper.
Hmmmrr, I think that's all. Anything else I have to babble about, I'll edit to do so.
Enjoy!
Phantom of the Opera (c) errr.... Andrew Lloyd Webber, right? I hope I got the name right. And is POTO really copyrighted? Oh well. He wrote it, that's what I mean.
Yay, PotO! I loved that musical. And I liked the movie, too, come to think of it. Especially the opening scene where the grungy old theater "transforms" into what it used to be, and all the dramatic music. Man, that was cool. 8D *prattle* I still need to read the book.
I think it looks gothy because of her hair. x: It has that kind of "jagged curl" that a lot of goth art has.
I like his facial expression. xD

Yeah... you know, I was in the back too. Well, in the back on a balcony with food service... but still, it's not the best view in the world. I wish I would've been closer too. THERE WERE SOME AMAZING STUFFS going on on that stage.

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
I'm a lover of visual impacts. I like brilliant colors and shapes. And I decided to collect a whole stack of deviations that reflect that taste. These pieces showcased below deserve every bit of publicity you can give them. x)P
