Hey, all you lovely folks!

How would you feel about being a colorist or clean-up artist on my thesis film, Welcome to Hell?
Here's the blog, check it out!

Basically, my second semester is devoted to clean-up and coloring, but it's going to take me forever and I'm kind of counting on the fact that I have one or two people who have offered to help me.  But if I can count on more people to help me--and definitively--that'd be even better!

This journal is just a way for me to gauge interest and feel out the possibility of having followers help me out!

Here's basically what you'd be doing:

Colorists:  You would be using Photoshop or programs like Photoshop to basically fill-in all of the color on the characters!  If you know how to use the fill/paint bucket tool you're pretty much qualified!  You may also have to go in and touch up the parts that the fill tool wont reach.  Something like a sample "style shot" with color palettes would be provided for you to follow!
Bonus points if you have a working knowledge of video layers in photoshop OR TVpaint!

Clean-Up:  This may vary and is subject to change, depending on things I haven't decided on yet!  Clean-up is basically inking.  I'm not sure at this point if I want to do this traditionally or digitally.  If I choose to do it digitally, then it will involve basically going over my rough animation sketches and making the lines more clear and easy to read.  If I choose to do it traditionally, then I wont actually ask for clean-up artists, sorry!
Or I may find something else, like double-checking the colorists work or doing touch-ups.

*COMPENSATION:  For your work, you'll obviously be compensated!  I know all too well how offensive it is to ask an artist to work for free!  By the end of this semester, I plan to have a Kickstarter page up and running for my film!  So I'd be able to pay you for your efforts!  Plus you'll get a name in the credits!  Exclamations!

Sorry I can't afford to be awfully specific about details right now, I'm still just trying to gauge whether or not this is a viable option and get something resembling a headcount, hahaha.
Please let me know if you're interested!

Also check out my poll!  Right below the journal!

***TO CLARIFY:  Coloring and Clean-up are processes that you do on a single image--a frame (or a cel, for you old people).  Animation is a sequence of frames that create the illusion of movement.  Therefore, you would be coloring multiple frames.  At the moment I have no accurate projection of how many frames each person would be working on.
A knowledge of animation mechanics is a plus but not a necessity!

I think I could do either^^ and I've made some gif. animations on photoshop so I know how video layers work.
I just need clarifications on what exactly I need to do because I'm kinda dense ^^;

I might be interested. It all depends on whether or not I will have enough spare time :)

Hello! I found out about this project through my friend ~Chickah-Dee, I've seen the lip-synch progression videos on your Vimeo, and I'm very interested.

I'd like to help out with coloring. I'm currently a senior in visual arts, I've dabbled in some animation with Adobe After Effects within the past school semester, I have an extensive collection of animation reference guides, and I'm currently experimenting with SAI for digital art. You could look in my deviantart, but I encourage you to check out my tumblr art tag, too. It's relatively new, there isn't a lot in it, but I hope I can help in some way.

Sure thing! I trust Chicka-Dee's judgement and your tumblr art blog looks really nice! Knowing a bit about animation is always a plus, but it's not a necessity... working in SAI is fine with me! :) And I'm sure you'll bring a lot to the table with an art education...

I've been contacting people via e-mail, so you can reach me at, go ahead and contact me with which e-mail you'd prefer to use and whatever name you'd like me to use on Dropbox... I'll go ahead and set you up a folder! Thank you so much!

Hi! Let me just say you are my favorite deviant! I would love to help you on this project. I would be happy coloring or cleaning up on your frames! Please let me know if you are interested in me helping you! I wouldn't need any money/deviantART points, so I would work for free! :D

Ahhh, you flatter me! Well thank you for your interest... I'll definitely be getting back to you! I need to plan a few more things and get a little further into my workload and then I'll totally post a journal with all of the information and make sure to send out messages to everyone! As far as money goes, I really dont' want to harvest the lovely folks of deviantart without some sort of compensation! But thank you for offering to do it for free, haha... that's very nice of you! : D
